Hey
I have to say the idea of a travel planning package is a new one to me.
So I decided to check out the software you sent a link to and, like you, saw it to be nothing more than a glorified task list - much like the calendar you are provided with in most email clients.
I see they also have the option to share to do lists among people.
Off the bat, I would suggest the use of something like google spreadsheets. You can allow multiple editors and what's more is that you can check and updated the spreadsheet from any computer in the world. This of course assumes that the travel package is nothing more than a todo list, which can be easily represented on a spreadsheet. Have you used google spreadsheets before?
I can't really imagine what more one would need in a travelling package. Dates, destinations and cost more or less exhaust what I can foresee in terms of planning a holiday. A spreadsheet (along with convenience of being web based) gives you all that and more.
