Is it a godd priod for visiting the park?
Is it strictly recomended or compulsory ( for this period) the booking for kruger N.P. accomodation and once booked, is it possible to modify the reservation day by day ( if rooms available).

Hi Marco,

To answer your first question - I'm assuming your primary objective in visiting the KNP is linked to seeing as many animals as possible. If so you have chosen a fairly decent time to visit as animals are more often seen in the dryer, winter months in the Kruger. The reason for this is very simply linked to the availability of water. Because water is scarce animals must gather around waterholes to hydrate themselves. Knowing where the waterholes are will give you a fairly good indication that animals are in the area.

The other reason for increased game viewing in the winter season is that the dryness and lack of leaves makes it far easy to spot animals. The rainy summer season provides a more lush, dense environment and as a result animals are more hidden.

The driest times are between May and June so this is the best time to visit. April, however is ideal for bird watching as the migrations take place during this period.

You should definitely book as soon as possible - the Kruger National Park can be extremely booked up depending on the area you would like to visit. To give you an idea of availability you should take a look at the camp you plan on booking eg Satara see

Let me know if you have any other questions regarding your visit!

Each season has it advantages...

In the summer time you will be able to see a lot of baby bucks but in high tempratures (40C).

I winter it is easier to spot the animal, because most of the plant loose the leaves and animals is more visible at the water wholes

Either way it is an experience of a live time.
