I was recently in Etosha Pan Namibia and booking was a year in advance for any camp site and above. I plan on returning to SA this year and a self drive tour to Kruger. How far in advance should I book for bushcamps, etc?

I'd suggest at least 6 months in advance - we are booking now for June '08 and couldn't get all the dates/camps we wanted. Also, if you want to monitor the availability, you can see a monthly calendar by campsite showing the total # and type of units available each day during the month - however, be sure to check the more popular, southern camps because they book faster. For example, here's the monthly link for Olifants for June 08

The park is so amazing that it is no wonder that one needs to book so much time before the visit.
I just heard from friends that were there recently and they are filled with enthusiasm. Last edited by Ming : 03-27-2008 at 12:02 AM. |

I am not to go but as my friend least 6 months in advance And they were booking now for Aug 2008 and couldn't get all the dates/camps we required. Also, if you have a desire to monitor the ease of use.
