Default cheap accomodation

A hostel will probably be your best bet. There are plenty to choose from.

When we visited Cape Town I searched around the net for info's & reviews.

We opted for an hostel that was up International Hostelling Standards - as these usually have fulfil specific safety level & standards of cleanliness.

Our choice was the "Ashanti Lodge" as at that time a free pickup from the airport was offered. It was also in a reasonably "safe" area of town.

It was a pleasant hostel - if travelling by yourself stay in the main building - but for couples there are rooms in a quieter annexe 100m down the road.

Check out the official S.A site for the various options.

We found the rooms at Ashanti better than we expected. We were given one in the annexe - just down the road which is quieter than the main hostel. The hostel also does a free pick-up from the airport.

The hostel also has a travel agency - the prices for trips looked very reasonable & you can ask questions without any pressure to buy from them.

We didn't venture to Victoria Falls ( - my partner who is a Capey tells me it's a very long way - something like 2000 miles at a rough guess. He reckons it's best to go on an organised trip as getting to V.Falls (in Zimbabwe)by road isn't necessarily safe for the tourist.

Hope you have a great trip.

PJ
