Default The cost of hosting the 2010 soccer World Cup in Cape Town:

The mayor Helen Zille told the council that the hosting of the 2010 football World Cup will cost Cape Town city about R7 billion, with the new stadium in Green point coming in at R3.3 billion. The balance of the cash will be used to hire staff, prepare practice venue sites, telecommunications infrastructure, transport, traffic control and cleaning.

The city will be setting up at least 20 public viewing facilities giving locals direct access to all the games. Construction on the Green point stadium will start early next year.
