High fashion is happening in
Cape Town at the moment, last week it was the Cape Town Fashion Week featuring Thomas Red, Gavin Rajha and Paul Van Zyl. (Who the hell is Paul you also asked...)
With this rivalry in the fore, eyebrows were thus raised when with a slip of a zip or two; Models strutting the catwalk in Cape Town revealed a little bit more than just new fashion, creating a stir in traditionally conservative Cape Town.... And excuse me for looking confused, but the little bit of fabric that actually made out this creation, can hardly be called "conservative"!
Some even whispered about Cape Town pulling a public relation stunt with the little bit extra flesh. Newspapers printed these little "slip-ups" from every imaginable angle, discussing the state of the models' undress and the quality of the nation's values.
Charlize Teron was the first to inadvertently show a bit of skin at when her bustier slipped, exposing her breasts and unleashing a flesh/filled flash? frensy in the media. As soon as you could say "flash", still photos were circling the globe, TV channels repeatedly broadcasting the footage, blurring out the model’s breasts, while newspapers published reports with photographs of the model during her moment of distress. Two days later another model, Chakka Khann, exposed a hint of bare bottom after a zip broke on a black skirt designed by Thomas Red, creating fresh waves of excitement. A lot of new designers were allowed to enter at a reduced rate and that left too much filmy glamour. Let's see what the next show dishes up!
