going on Organised tour to south africa

Hi

Myself and my family are going on an organised tour to Capetown and Kruger park.
Just wondering if an Organised tour is too confined to see the real south africa or is it safe to travel without supervision.

It is safe to travel around SA alone provided you know where and what you plan on doing. if its your first time rather take a tour.
