Default Eating Habits Of the Homosapiens

Well first thing to do would be to check out the list below, like the Cape Town Fish Market, and Cafe Monte Carlo.

Then I would check out the wine tasting list...that's definately one of the top things to do in Cape Town, some of the places are accompanied by not only magnificent wine but great homemade meals[ definately affordable]this winetasting list will also offer you lovely scenery, hence taking in the surroundings before gorging down a delicious meal, alongside a great glass of wine.I have heard that constantia uitsig la colombe are marvellous, regarding wine and their accompanying restaurants .I have become very well aqainted with Boschendal in Franchoek, We met and fell in love instantaneously, the restaurant and I I mean. Great lemonade, wonderful salmon salads, and delish scones and lemon meringue.

As for Moyo,it's about R150 per head and its a buffet, you can have seconds I think. You must phone them, don't know the number but phone info and ask for number of Spier Wine Estate and they will give you number of Moyo.

Some other great spots would be the restaurant at Rhodes memorial, great pasta, salads, and cakes as well as the amazing view and structure with statuesque lions to peek at[and sit on for photo's afterwards, I of course do not mean the real thing]. Royale Burger Bar in Long street is great, nice vibe too,far more urban and street chic than the aforementioned places.great milkshakes...oooh...bar one and romany cream a firm favourite.

For a night out how about the revolving restuarant [yes the floor revovles, slowly] at the top of the Ritz hotel in Sea Point, dress smartly, slightly more expensive but definately great. If you into seafood try out Panama Jacks ,nestled neatly amidst the harbour, also slightly more expensive but great food. the seared Tuna-that is something I would like to relive again and again, plus they have the best sorbet and Nicholas Cage was a customer on his trip down to the Cape.Plus afterward you get a postcard to fill out and they take care of posting it. Nice to drop your friends back home a line.

Then there's Madame Zingara ,great, but alas ,recently burnt down.maybe by the time you get here it will be ready to go.great great great ,one of the top restuarants in the world, feels like you've stepped onto another planet, like Frida's home.Known for their choc-chilli steak ,and chocolate cigars.

Cape Quarter is great, I particularly love the quiet french bistro Rouge, with its monday night tango scene and great crepes[pancakes] with nutella, cream and roasted almonds and walnuts. There breakfasts are great too.Mesopotamia, a wonerful Kurdish restuarant on Long street equipped with highly entertaining belly dancers while you sit on cushions,no tables and chairs here.

Pop into Cafe Mozart just off Long street [incredibly close to Mesopotamia] for a delicious full farmhouse brekkie, quaint and quiet, with wonderful freshly squeezed juices. The African Cafe just accross the way looks interesting too, with its retro style cushions and crazy decor, the roasted butternut salad looked grand.

Nandos[chicken], Kauaii [health food and great smoothies], Vida E cafe[coffee bar], Mug and Bean [a little of everything, breakfasts, cakes, salads, sandwiches] and Primi Priatti [pastas and pizzas] are all popular chain restuarants in Cape Town, these all being slightly cheaper then the above, obviously not as unique but still highly enjoyable.

Well I hope this helps somewhat and that you enjoy the traditional face painting at Moyo!!!!!

Maybe if you find any new jems you can post and let me know, always keen to explore a new spot!!

I can second that. Went to Madame Zingara the night before it burned down and had the choc-chilli steak. Think we would have to go to Teazers just across the road till they restore it

Smile

Hi there, I was looking at your post and feel I can help a bit. There is a website called stay-a-nite.com which deals with all the travel tourism and entertainment for South-Africa. They are very comprehensive and very helpfull. I would definitly recommend anyone looking for a "jol" in South-Africa to look at the site.
