HI
my husband an I are going to Kruger and Mauritius in 3 weeks time. we are staying at Djuma www.djuma.com, not actually in kruger but next to in sabi sands. Other will no doubt tell you more about the difference between the two. We got an excellant deal. If you pm me I can give you details of our holiday and costings, but it was very reasonable. We are spending 7 nights along tyhe garden route, 4 nights in djuma and 6 nights in mauritius. Best wishes Tanya |

There are over 60 private game lodges bordering Kruger with prices ranging up to R7000 ppd sharing. Dont believe that the more you pay, the more you get because that is not so. Some lodges are affordable and others are for the wealthy. At the end of the day, no matter where you stay, the lions, elephant, giraffe, antelope, etc all look the same in the bush but the setting and extent of personal attention, the cuisine and the pampering you get at the lodge is what breaks the bank balance. Rest assured that the standards are high at all lodges, even at those reasonably priced.
Kruger National Park itself warrants mentioning. There is an upgrade program worth R32 million in progress and the opening of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park linking South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique is scheduled to open later this month. Any visitor to South Africa should spend at least 2 or 3 days in Kruger. For a much lessor price, you also get game drives and the like but without the rose petals on the bed and floating candles in the bath as you do at the private lodges. Some of the best video footage I have was taken in Kruger. I suggest that honeymooners should spend two days/nights in Kruger Park and then spoil yourselves for a couple of days at a private lodge. For those on a budget who want to experience an evening having a braai (bbq)around the campfire in true African style, meeting other nature lovers and having a good laugh, take a look at private bush camps - some of the lodges offer this option. Beg, buy, borrow or steal a video camera and just get here - South Africa is the hidden gem of the world for having a wonderful safari in the midst of the animal kingdom. KEITH-SA |

My boyfriende and I just got back from a six day stay at KNP and had a great time. We like you had NO idea how to 'plan' a safari. We rented a car from the airport and drove to KNP. We stayed in the KNP rest camps like Sabie">Lower Sabie, Satara, ect. and thought they were great. We booked them on www.sanparks.org . We went on one morning drive and drove ourselves the rest of the time. (When we read that you 'drive yourself' we were astounded, because did not realize that you could just drive around by yourself in a park where wild roam!) KNP is very easy to navigate around, both tar and dirt roads, good signs. We saw so many animals! It was such a fun time, so whatever you decide I am sure you will have a great time. If you have any other questions even if they seem dumb...just ask! Good luck.
