    Parking in capetown

How easy is to find parking ,,, when and what amount do you
pay the car guards in downtown capetown??? thanks

  2. It's tough

Parking in town is quite tight. During office hours it's pretty hard to find in general and you will need to pay the people employed by the council.

In the evening town also fills up because of the night life in Long Street. Now it's time to give car guards money but in all honesty I try not to pay too often. I find them really irritating. My car radio is insured, I'd rather have it stolen once a year than deal with the annoyance of car guards. Remember you don't have to give them anything, there is nothing official about it and it's a something they force upon you. Most of the time I consider it organised begging. But when I do pay I normally work on a maximum of R2.

You really only have easy parking in town between 5.30pm and 8pm.

You can see an article I wrote about car guards a while back here

  3. Its almost impossible to find parking in town during the week. There are some open parking areas, but expect to pay a nice amount...

    Cheers
