  1. Restaurant - Cafe Monte Carlo

Tucked in the corner of Century City’s Half Moon Bay is Grand Café Monte Carlo, a restaurant and bar that juxtaposes fine dining with a trendy social venue. The restaurant spills onto the jetty where the canal gently laps the edge and offers a break from the bustle of the surrounding shops and businesses.

The inspiration for the Monte Carlo theme was based on the Island Club residential area in Century City. Several apartment blocks have been erected around the canal and named after islands in the French Riviera. “I chose to name the restaurant after the best place in the French Riviera, which is synonymous with fine dining and entertainment,” said co-owner, Ricard Meulemans.

The restaurant chef, Bradley Hewitt specialises in fusion cuisine which explains the diverse and tantalising menu, from stuffed chicken breasts and seared tuna to light lunches and bar snacks. The signature dish to be tried is the venison served on vanilla risotto with wild mushrooms and cinnamon berry jus. An evening dinner can be completed with a mouth-watering dessert, such as marbled chocolate mousse or a social drink at the stylish bar.

The red pony skin bar is decked with colour changing lights to carry the festive mood of the restaurant and flanked with barman eager to shake up a cocktail or suggest an evening aperitif.

If you want to unwind after a days work, the bar is a great hangout to charge your glass and forget about the hassles of the day. Alternatively, Grand Café Monte Carlo is conveniently situated in a business district and is ideal for after hours strategic meetings. The courtyard is a social environment to interact and caters for as many as 110 people. Alternatively, you could keep your party private on the couches that surround the big screen television.

  3. Great spot

I've been to Cafe Monte Carlo a few times and it's always been great. I see it as a restaurant by day and a great spot to hook up with mates for a few drinks in the evening. The finishes are great and the outside section on the water is a fantastic spot to enjoy a cold beer.

There is also a bigscreen projector which generally rotates between sport and fashion TV - the good things in life

  6. As a destination that attracts a truly international clientele, Monte Carlo has a correspondingly varied restaurant scene with eateries serving up food from all corners of the globe. However, despite featuring the whole spectrum when it comes to international cuisine, the Monte Carlo principality has some mouth-watering Monégasque dining specialties of its own that shouldn't be missed.

The majority of the restaurants within Monte Carlo are upmarket dining establishments, but visitors on a shoestring will find the fixed lunch menus offered at many eateries to be of good value. If budget is of no object then the sky is your limit in Monte Carlo, which features restaurants fit for royalty.
