I need an advice of experienced travelers.
I am going in August to SA for 14 days. The plan is: 2 days in Johannesburg, 3 days in Sun City and Pilanesberg, 7 days in Cape Town and 2 days in George (Mossel Bay). From each place exit to local trips and 1 or 2 hours of driving for surroundings. Any remarks? Thanks, Alex. |

You seem to have allocated your 14 days well.
Take a full day to see the various game parks, (lion, elephant, rhino), caves, Zulu dancing and cultural tour, and then go to Monte Casino at night. Spend the next day at Gold Reef City, Apartheid Museum and Soweto. You can do these tours on your own, or with me as I am a tour operator and guide. Sun City is an amazing place but I suggest that one day and one night is sufficient. At Pilanesberg, you can find big game and even go for a ride on an elephant or take a hot air balloon trip over the Reserve. You could easily do this part of your trip on your own. Why Mossel Bay? I think Knysna has much more to offer. Its in the same region. Cape Town is a beautiful City with much to see and do. Theres the cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain, the Castle, Aquarium, various wine tours, the Waterfront and Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. Welcome to South Africa and enjoy!!! |

Yes I am in JHBurg. Being involved in tourism, Ive noticed that foreign visitors really dont know what to expect when visiting S.Africa and there are so many exciting options to explore, depending on your interests.
As a travel enthusiast, I can certainly help you, regardless of whether you wish to go on my tours or not. For example, knowing about special travel offers available within the industry and assisting you in the planning of your itinerary could make a big difference. I can also help sourcing comfortable accommodation at nominal rates, getting the best deal from car hire co's, etc etc. Anybody visiting a major city like JHB or CT should go with a tour guide. The guide should know about the history and anecdotes relevent to the places you visit, making your trip so much more interesting. The cost should be inexpensive and the guide will show you around safely without you getting lost. By the way, there is much more to see in CT than I first mentioned. Your best option is to connect with a CT tour operator in advance, and look at the options. If you would like me to assist, just email. Nothing expected in return. KEITH |

Shame you only have two weeks as you could easily spend at least a week looking at the Garden Route. I agree with Keith, it would be better to spend your time on the Garden Route based in Knysna rather than Mossel Bay. From there you could visit George, Wilderness and Oudtshoorn.
