Hi, I wonder if anyone could help me.
I received a fine for stopping on the "red" line and not wearing a seat belt. The red line was 4 metres long, I stopped there to drop off my kid at school as it was raining. I took my belt off to get to my cubby to get my license before the cop got to the car. Anyway, the cop has ommitted to put in the year when he filled in the fine. I have been told that it is a legal document and should be filled in full or it is void, is this correct? |

Let me know about the rules and regulations tips regarding traffic fines and summonses related to high speed driving and bikings in Southafrica. Specially to avoid getting fines and summonses. It also arises maximum chances of getting road accidents.
Thanks. |

Its possible, because we live in a country full of corruption. This is very dangerous to do, as it can get reversed. Its better to attend to this yourself when the guilt becomes to much to bare.
What I suggest and have done myself in the past when my fine count exceeds my cash flow is to take a trip to your local magistrates office. Most magistrates will be happy to halve your fine. This is standard procedure in our courts as 50% is better than non payment or R0. |

This thread is interesting just for its mere existence.
Don't get me wrong, I am possibly as guilty of breaking the speed limit as the next SA driver :-) But it seems to me we should commit to not speeding as a culture, rather than looking to get off scot-free when we get caught. This is basic respect for the law of the land -- and in this case it's a good one put there to protect us and others from something that is simple to avoid. Don't speed! You'll save on fuel, tyre costs and ultimately, innocent lives! |
