Its come to that time in the day, where the tummy's grumbling and you're in need of something to nourish the whole deep inside of you.Basically some good food.
But your residents of Cape Town being as Cosmopolitan as they are, will be the first to tell you it's not only about the food you eat,but more importantly about the ambiance, the scene, the atmosphere, or simply, the vibe. So this is where the strategising comes in,where it is no longer about the simple things but rather about the maintanance, or if you're like myself the creating of some form of 'social cool'. It's all about the place. So here's a short cut to only two,but still two places which have been tried and tested, and have not been found wanting. As my journey of restaurants continues so too shall your list flourish.Never fear. The 1st is Royale, situated on Long Street in the hustle and bustle of town nightlife, you want to see some strange, possibly even avant garde homosapiens, then you have to attend Royale, its like stepping into another time as the eighties comes venturing in in full force, these interesting troupers and the fact that the large gourmet burgers and great big milkshakes to match are virtually unbeatable, with a side of either potato wedges, fries or sweet potato fries make Royale a difficult burger bar to beat. Then there's Madame Zingara, now this is wow!!!!!!! You stepping into another time, another country, rose petals all over the place, little bread pouches, hats that get given out later for all to wear,as well as the obvious plaque on the wall saying that it is one of the top 100 restaurants in the world. Rich dark purple walls, gold stars, dark wood, painted faces, belly dancers, great music...mmm...choc chilli steak...one of the greats here [especially for a romantic evening out with a certain someone], now don't forget to order the chocolate cigars for dessert...
