Default Schabir plea to Mbeki

Businessman Schabir Shaik, who was found guilty by judge Hilary Squires to have had a corrupt relationship with Jacob Zuma, said today that President Thabo Mbeki's differences with Zuma had caused irreparable damage to his life.

Shaik said today: "I wish that Mbeki and Zuma could resolve their differences so that some of us little dishonest men can live normal lives. "I wish Mbeki could see the damage he's caused in my life, some of which is irreparable."

Shaik was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment on two charges of corruption and one of fraud in the Durban High Court in July last year. The judge found Shaik had a generally corrupt relationship with Zuma.

Shaik's appeal against his sentence and conviction are being heard today in the Supreme Court of Appeal.

Red face Zuma not like Mugabe in heart

i objectively suggests that the thing that mr Zuma be compared to Mugabe the dictator is somehow naive and irrational.

Default Zuma is heading next for jail.

Shaik has lost his appeal against his convictions and sentences for fraud and corruption and faces 15 years behind bars.

The full bench of the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein unanimously rejected all his grounds for appeal. 5 judges ruled that his corrupt relationship with former deputy president Jacob Zuma had damaged the "moral fibre of the people". Its this corruption in government that will destroy our country.

Thank God for South Africa's thriving new democracy. Its going to be very difficult for comrade Jacob to make the 238 payments totaling R1.2 million made to him by Schabir go away.

Default Zuma is joining Shaik next for jail.

Schabir Shaik entered Durbans Westville prison at 9am today to begin his 15-year sentence for fraud and corruption.

The ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma's former financial adviser said "My heart is at peace." before he disappeared behind bars.

2 lone Shaik supporters raised their left fists at the prison gate. It appears the rest of his ANC comrades have deserted him, not even Zuma was there to wave goodbye.

I don't think so, but it's worrying to see that 52% of the population supports him!

Unhappy When Zuma becomes president, watch out!!

I am a black Zimbabwean living in SA, we have seen how it happens, how a country falls to its knees and the signs are already showing in South Africa, in sequence:

1. Corrupt ministers
2. Nepotism among ruling members
3. White people leave the country in huge numbers
3. Skilled people leave in numbers as well (black and white)
4. Govt departments full of corruption (compare home affairs service 14 years ago?)
5. Land invasions
6. Inflation starts kreeping up (compare the price of milk 2 years ago, inflation is not 6%)
7. Concurrent strikes, etc etc etc....

List goes on and on, for all you naive South Africans now is the time for you to wake up before its too late.

Just some advice from someone who's been there.

The other point against him is that he does not show better judgment, which any leader should undoubtedly show.

There are far better potential presidents out there, all I am hoping for, is that he doesn’t even get the slimmest of chance to becoming the president of South Africa.
